In dit proces is het doel dat leerlingen de verbanden tussen hun schema’s verkennen door waarom-, hoe- en ‘wat gebeurt er hierna?’-vragen te stellen. Onderzoekt toont aan dat leerlingen hun langetermijngeheugen en hun begrip verdiepen als een klasgenoot hen uitgebreid ondervraagt, of als ze zichzelf op zo’n manier ondervragen.
