De basis is hetzelfde: Je biedt hulpzinnen die ervoor zorgen dat leerlingen hun antwoord beter formuleren dan wanneer ze die hulp niet hadden gekregen, waarna je de ondersteuning geleidelijk gaat weglaten, naarmate de leerlingen zelfstandiger worden. De ondersteuning moet uiteindelijk worden weggehaald om te kunnen beoordelen of die succesvol is geweest.
